Religious Workbooks, Emblems Programs

Parents of interested Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts or Venture Scouts may purchase Catholic Religious Award workbooks at their local Scout Service Centers. Cub Scouts have award applications at the back of each workbook that must be completed, signed and mailed (refer to Diocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting for mailing instructions). Boy Scouts or Venture Scouts may contact a Trained Religious Awards Counselor, work with the counselor until finished and then undergo a Board of Review before completing the award. There is an annual diocesan awards ceremony which is usually conducted in the first half of the year.

Cub Scout Religious Award

The purpose of the Light of Christ and the Parvuli Dei Awards are to help the Cub Scout (age 7-11) develop a personal relationship with Jesus. With the parents’ active assistance and participation in this program, it is hoped that each individual Cub Scout will come to see Jesus as a real person and his friend.

Boy Scout, Venture Scout Religious Award

The purpose of the Ad Altare Dei (come to the altar of God) program is to help Catholic scouts of the Roman Rite develop a fully Christian way of life in the faith community. The program is organized in chapters based on the seven sacraments. The seven Sacraments are a primary means toward spiritual growth. For older scouts or Venture Crew, the Pope Pius XII Award is available.
