St. Mary the Virgin Catholic Church, Arlington
St. Mary the Virgin in Arlington, a Parish of the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter, is in search of a part time Parish Secretary. Our Parish Secretary is often the first contact a person has with the parish, so an outgoing, kind and caring demeanor both on the phone and in person is essential. Our Parish Secretary is involved with ALL Parish communications, from Social Media to Sunday bulletins. An ability to write clearly and concisely while maintaining a friendly attitude at all times is paramount. Our Parish Secretary will also handle sacramental record keeping, so attention to detail is key. Our secretary will also interface continually with our Pastor, parish volunteers, and other staff. The job is important as the glue that holds many moving parts together. Patience and a sense of humor are a plus.
A knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Publisher) are required. Being a practicing Catholic is mandatory. High school diploma required at a minimum.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Answering phones and routing calls to the appropriate person.
- Handling all parish communications via website, social media, and email.
- Preparing and producing the weekly bulletin and music handouts.
- Keeping sacramental records.
- Interfacing with parishioners regarding reception of sacraments and other services of the parish (baptism, weddings, funerals) and preparation of worship aids for such events.
- Maintenance of the parish calendar and appointments for the Pastor.
The position is part-time, 25 hours per week. Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Three weeks of paid time off (15 days) per year, covering vacation/sick time. Please send letter of interest and/or resume to Business Manager, Terry Southard at .
