Memo on Holy Communion from Bishop Olson

Diocese of Fort Worth

August 18, 2022

Bishop Michael Olson states he believes it prudent to continue the March 12, 2020 practice of receiving Holy Communion only under the one species of the Consecrated Host. He reminds the faithful that the Catechism of the Catholic Church (1377) teaches that “Jesus Christ is truly present whole and entire in each of the species and whole and entire in each of their parts, in such a way that the breaking of the bread does not divide Christ."
