Catholic Campaign for Human Development

Optional Special Collection November 18-19, 2023

Sunday, November 19 marks the seventh annual World Day of the Poor, a celebration that Pope Francis describes in his message for this year’s celebration as “a fruitful sign of the Father’s mercy” that “enables us to discover ever anew the heart of the Gospel.” In conjunction with this worldwide observance, the Diocese of Fort Worth will be taking up an optional special collection to support the work of the U.S. bishops’ anti-poverty efforts.

In addition, 25% of the funds we collect will remain in our diocese to fund local antipoverty projects, such as Catholic Charities Fort Worth, Seymour Ministerial Alliance and Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Last year this 25% was more than $80,000. By supporting this collection, you are giving those on the margins a hand up, not a handout.

Annual Diocesan Appeal Update

November Promo and Progress towards goal

Thank you all for conducting the commitment weekend in your parishes. We are working as quickly as possible to input donations and pledges into Blackbaud. You can check your parish’s progress towards goal in the ADA box drive on the Excel doc “2024 ADA Parish Status Report” which will be continuously updated. At the Business Managers Meeting we will walk through how to access your report on Blackbaud.

Our retired priests have honored Christ’s commandment to “Love One Another as I have Loved You.” The Annual Diocesan Appeal continues to financially support retired Priest Care. Please communicate this to your parishioners with the November promo materials below and on the box drive.
