Priesthood Sunday
September 28, Resources for Parishes and Schools
Priesthood Sunday is an annual day of prayer and tribute led by laity in Catholic parishes across the United States. Sponsored by the USA Council of Serra International, it reminds the faithful of the gift of priesthood and encourages them to renew their support and prayer for priests in their communities. It is exactly one month before the feast of St. John Vianney, patron of parish priests. This special Sunday isn't a liturgical feast but an invitation, led by laypeople, to reflect on the sacred call of priesthood and the essential role priests serve in administering the sacraments and forming communities, acting in persona Christi to offer the Eucharist and administer absolution, cleansing us in Christ’s Name (Hebrews 5:1, 1 Peter 2:9).
Please use the documents below for promoting Priesthood Sunday during Mass, in your catechetical programs, in your bulletin, Flocknote, Facebook page, newsletter, etc. several weeks in advance. If you need additional resources for promoting vocations in your parish or want to start a vocations committee in your parish, please visit https://fwdioc.org/parish-vocations-ministries or contact , VP Vocations for Fort Worth Serra Club.
