Stewardship

Stewardship at Your Parish

More Ministry Fair Discussion

The International Catholic Stewardship Council (ICSC) recently presented a discussion on how to conduct impactful ministry fairs during their monthly “Vestibule” webinar series. While some of the tips provided may be old hat for parishes that already have a tried and true model, there were some clever theme ideas as well as relevant feedback regarding following up with your parishioners once the fair is over. But perhaps the best takeaway from this webinar is the final slide (SPOILER ALERT!), which emphasizes why you all are even taking the time to plan this event in the first place. Whether you call it a ministry fair, stewardship fair, parish showcase, involvement weekend, or anything else, it is important to have your ministries on the same page as far as the goal of the fair. Emphasis should not be placed on the number of signatures collected on the signup sheet (though of course that is a measurable outcome). Rather, are you promoting a message of discipleship? Does your promotion of the event reflect an invitation to your parishioners to share their God-given gifts? Are your ministry leads focused on creating a sense of belonging? Does the overall attitude of the event convey a feeling of checking off a box to appease the complaining ministries or are you making it clear that the mission of the parish can only be furthered by the sharing of parishioner talent?

Watch the webinar here. If there is difficulty accessing the link, please visit the ICSC website (https://catholicstewardship.com/) and click on “Resources”, then “2026 Vestibule Recordings.”

And if you have the time, please complete this Ministry Fair survey! We are trying to build our own set of best practices: Ministry Fair Survey – Fill out form

As always, please reach out with any questions/comments: at 817-886-6607 (office) 626-643-9803 (cell).
