Lights, Catholic, Action! S2 Ep. 31: Forming Hearts Through Sacred Music

Sacred music doesn’t just teach notes—it forms hearts. In this episode of Lights, Catholic, Action, we’re joined by Ashley Ratcliff, choir director at St. John the Apostle Catholic School and leader of the parish music ministry. Ashley shares how God prepared her heart and guided her journey into music ministry, an unexpected path that led to teaching sacred music and helping young voices make a joyful noise unto the Lord. From parish choir to Catholic school classrooms, she reflects on trusting God’s timing, answering His call, and allowing praise to become a path of healing and renewal.

Watch on YouTube or listen on your favorite podcast platform! Each episode, released every Tuesday, explores the identity and mission of the Catholic Church in North Texas with a new guest each week. Also, please share on your social media platforms or parish e-bulletins!

Mass of Reparation for Victims of Abuse

April – Child Abuse Prevention Month

You are invited to the Mass of Reparation for Victims of Abuse, celebrated by Bishop Olson on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary of the Assumption, Fort Worth.

This Mass holds a solemn and meaningful place in the life of our Diocesan Church. It is a time for us to come together as a community of faith to pray for healing, to offer reparation for the grave sins of abuse, and to renew our shared commitment to safeguarding the vulnerable.

By gathering in prayer, we give visible witness that the Church stands firmly with those who have suffered harm. We remain steadfast in our commitment to justice, healing, and restoration, and we ask God to bring comfort, strength, and hope to all.

Almsgiving with the Annual Diocesan Appeal

Last year every parish that applied for an ADA grant received one, thanks to the generosity of parishioners exceeding the $5 million goal. This year we are $1 million away from this goal. Please share the bulletin ads below during Lent to help us reach goal and fund the grant requests from parishes and schools within our own diocese. These will also be available in the Catholic Social Media portal.

Stewardship at Your Parish

Canva template for Holy Week/Easter handouts

Are you wanting to engage with the many, many folks who will walk through your doors over the next couple of weeks but don’t have enough time to come up with a tool? We have you covered! Below are two Canva templates that can be customized however you want. There is a postcard-sized handout template which contains very basic information, and then a larger “one-pager” with a little more detail. These are intended to be modified to reflect the aspects of your parish that you would want to highlight, eg highlight upcoming events instead of the ministry samples; change the greeting wording; include adoration times; etc.

Light of Christ Awards

Light of Christ Awards

Who at your parish is living out their baptismal call in an extraordinary way?

The Light of Christ Award nomination forms are now available! Recognizing an individual parishioner (or married couple) with the Light of Christ award gives a tangible and accessible model of living out the four pillars of Stewardship (prayer, formation, hospitality and service) to your parishioners. Your congregations may think that Stewardship is only about giving money (and this is a very common misconception!), but we all know that the usher who consistently show up for the early Masses, the catechist who has taught years of elementary formation, or the married couple who has partnered with countless engaged couples are the folks who are helping to build a sense of community and spreading the love of Christ in your parishes.

Award ceremonies are scheduled for (all events will start at 6:30pm and end at 8:00pm):

  • Thursday, June 18; Immaculate Conception Church, Denton
  • Thursday, June 25; Our Lady Queen of Peace, Wichita Falls
  • Thursday, July 2; Immaculate Heart of Mary, Fort Worth
  • Thursday, July 9; Our Lady of Lourdes, Mineral Wells
  • Thursday, July 16; Our Lady of Mercy, Hillsboro

Paper applications have been mailed out to all parishes, however you may access the online application here: Light of Christ Nomination FormFill out form.

Please visit www.advancementfoundation.org/stewardship-awards for more information, or contact or call 817-886-6607 (office) or 626-643-9803 (cell).
