Thank you to the 10,801 families who supported last year’s Annual Diocesan Appeal, which raised $3,071,292.08.
Please make a note of these important dates for the 50th Anniversary Annual Diocesan Appeal The Eucharist Makes Us The Church:
- September 14-15: Announcement Weekend in All Parishes
- September 19: North Texas Giving Day
- September 21-22: Commitment Sunday in All Parishes
- September 28-29: Follow Up Weekend in All Parishes
In mid-August, families that donated to the 2019 Annual Diocesan Appeal will receive a personalized mailing with a report on the 2019 campaign, including which parishes, schools and ministries received funding. This information will also be available on the web and in the September/October issue of North Texas Catholic. Deaf Ministry Program
Religious Education Classes
The Deaf Ministry Program in the Diocese of Fort Worth is offering religious education classes for deaf children and adults. There are self-contained classes for deaf students on Wednesday evenings at St. John the Apostle in North Richland Hills. These classes are taught by hearing adults knowledgeable in ASL and Deaf Culture. If you would prefer to have your deaf/hard of hearing child participate in your home parish, every effort will be made to supply an interpreter for them. In either case, please contact the Deaf Ministry Coordinator, via email or call 817-905-9381, to enroll you child in Religious Education for the Fall of 2019.
New Child Safety Program
Empowering God’s Children®
The Office of Safe Environment in the Diocese of Fort Worth has a new children/youth safe environment awareness program that goes into effect this Fall. Empowering God’s Children® is a program to effectively communicate safety guidelines and principles to all children in grades Kindergarten through 12th grade. The sessions are taught in the Catholic schools, in parish religious education classes, and in youth ministry sessions. The program assists parents, teachers, catechists, and youth ministers in giving children and young people the increased awareness, empowerment and knowledge they need to protect themselves from those who might harm them. Empowering God’s Children® is a prerequisite to applying for "Teen Leader Training."
