Liturgy Adaptations and Restrictions
Flu Season 2020
Due to the severity of this flu season, the Diocese of Fort Worth has instructed pastors to immediately implement the following liturgical adaptations:
- To encourage the faithful to not hold hands during the Our Father
- To suspend the distribution of the Precious Blood
- To suspend handshakes during the Sign of Peace
- If a non-communicant comes forth for a blessing, the blessing can be given without touching them
The faithful are reminded that in receiving the Blessed Sacrament under one species, they are still receiving our Lord – body, blood, soul, and divinity as the Church has always taught.

As Holy Week fast approaches, we would like to kindly ask you to send us your Mass times, location, and offered language to the Diocesan Website Coordinators below, no later than Friday, April 3, 2020. Thank you for your help.

Catholic Relief Services (CRS)
Special Collection March 21-22, 2020
This Lenten season we have an opportunity to help our brothers and sisters in Christ, to serve Jesus in disguise, by supporting the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Collection. CRS provides support for six Catholic agencies that provide food for the hungry, legal assistance for the struggling, comfort for the lonely, a voice for the poor and aid for those affected by natural disaster. Resources for parishes in English and in Spanish – including bulletin covers, social media kits and web graphics - are available for download here.
Where are my CRS Rice Bowls?
If you cannot locate your shipment of CRS Rice Bowls, it is because CRS sent communication to all parishes last year asking if they still wanted to receive materials. If they did not hear back from you, they removed you from their mailing list. Parishes who responded received shipments in January.
At this late date, please contact other parishes in your area to see if they have surplus CRS Rice Bowls available to share with you. CRS will send you a shipment if you request it at this time; however, it may not arrive for a few weeks.
Census Count is Coming
Everyone needs to participate
The U.S. Census Bureau will be the 2020 census count in March 2020. It is important for every community that everyone be counted. To be counted everyone must complete the census form that they receive in March. An info that might identify an individual family is completely confidential. Only the statistical information provided in the census form will be used.
Bishop Olson supports other religious leaders who are urging their congregations to participate in the census count. Each parish can do by putting a flier in the bulletin, posting something on social media, having an census event at the church, including it in the announcements or other appropriate methods for a particular parish.
Attached are flyers in English and Spanish that explain why a complete count is vital to each community as well as a YouTube video which each parish may use.

Catholic Charities 110 Years
110 Years and Just Getting Started!
March 17th marks 110 years since a small group of women attended the annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. They went with a common purpose — to petition Bishop Edward Dunne to allow them to begin a “work of mercy.” This became Catholic Charities Fort Worth.
The enterprising spirit of these women has remained the heartbeat of our organization for more than a century. Throughout our 110 years, we have remained in-tune with the needs of the community and with your support, have continually evolved to answer those needs.
Can you give $110 today?
If 500 people give $110 through the Stand Together match, we will meet our goal and be able to help so many more individuals and families rise above poverty and reach their bigger, brighter future.
Have your gift matched by donating at www.ccfwturns110.com.
