Black and Indian Mission
February 25-26, Special Collection Resources
Did you know an example of the way the Black and Indian Mission Collection directly supports the Diocese of Fort Worth is through our Catholic schools? Every year each school receives a grant from this collection. In recent years the low collection has significantly decreased the grant awards per school putting extra strain on our schools to fundraise. Please consider helping our elementary and high schools through this collection the weekend of February 25-26 for the Black and Indian Missions. Please use the resources below to promote this collection in your parish. If you have any questions regarding this collection, please contact , CFRE at 817-382-4939.

Worldwide Marriage Encounter
March 2023
Worldwide Marriage Encounter has expanded to offer the experience during the week for those who cannot commit to a weekend. This is great for priests who cannot get away as easily. It’s called a 3RE and spans several weeks with sessions twice a week. Information can be found on the WWME.org website. WWME is still offering “virtual” experiences so couples can benefit from a Worldwide Marriage Encounter weekend without the risks of in person gatherings. One of the benefits of this approach is that those attending do not have to live close to a central location.
Information from Worldwide Marriage Encounter coordinators is available for parishes to inform couples of upcoming Encounter events. Feel free to include this valuable information in your bulletins.

Tax Code Changes Affect QCDs
The Secure Act 2.0 signed into law in late December made a few changes for those donors ages 70-1/2 who like to support our parishes, schools and the Diocese of Fort Worth through Qualified Charitable Distributions from their retirement plans. Effective with the 2023 tax year, an individual may donate up to $100,000 during the year from an IRA, and that amount will be indexed for inflation, meaning it is likely to increase each year thereafter. Additionally, the new law allows a one-time election of up to $50,000 to fund either a Charitable Remainder Unitrust (CRUT), Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust (CRAT) or a Charitable Gift Annuity (CGA). No changes were made to the age of donor who may make QCDs and QCDs continue to be eligible for donation to donor-advised fund sponsors, private foundations or supporting organizations. If you have questions about how QCDs can benefit your parish offertory or capital campaign, please visit advancementfoundation.planmygift.org/ira-charitable-rollover or contact , CFRE, at 817-533-7242.
