The Catholic Campaign for Human Development is the national anti-poverty program of the U.S. Catholic Bishops, working to carry out the mission of Jesus Christ "... to bring glad tidings to the poor ... liberty to captives ... sight to the blind, and let the oppressed go free." (Luke 4:18) CCHD works to break the cycle of poverty by helping low-income people participate in decisions that affect their lives, families and communities. CCHD offers a hand up, not a hand out. This special collection is the weekend before Thanksgiving. Please use the resources below – including the letter from Bishop Olson to be read on November 14-15 (the weekend before the actual collection) – to promote this collection in your parish. Join participating parishes, schools and ministries of the Diocese of Fort Worth in this year’s #iGiveCatholic Giving day on November 30, 2021. They were also awarded a portion of a $75,000 matching gift from the Advancement Foundation.

#iGiveCatholic is a giving event for the faithful from participating dioceses across the nation (and the world!) to unite and donate – both online and offline – to their favorite participating Catholic parishes, schools, and ministries. #iGiveCatholic presents an opportunity for Catholics to donate and support the organizations they are most passionate about on #GivingTuesday, and for our parishes, schools, and ministries to raise funds for a capital improvement, annual fund, or another project of their choosing.

Worldwide Marriage Encounter

November 2021

Worldwide Marriage Encounter has expanded to offer the experience during the week for those who cannot commit to a weekend. This is great for priests who cannot get away as easily. It’s called a 3RE and spans several weeks with sessions twice a week. Information can be found on the website. WWME is still offering “virtual” experiences so couples can benefit from a Worldwide Marriage Encounter weekend without the risks of in person gatherings. One of the benefits of this approach is that those attending do not have to live close to a central location.

Attached is a WORD document with bulletin announcements in English as well as in Spanish. Additionally, there are .jpeg images, one for each Sunday in the month that can be placed into the weekly parish bulletins. Information from Worldwide Marriage Encounter coordinators is available for parishes to inform couples of upcoming Encounter events. Feel free to include this valuable information in your bulletins.

Catholic Charities of Fort Worth

Catholic Charities Partners with the Diocese to Bring Vaccines to Parish Communities

As we continue to work towards the health and safety of our nation, not only is it morally permissible for people of faith to receive the vaccine, but it is also at the urging of Bishop Olson. He has asked Catholic Charities to reach out to you to see if you will be willing to open up your parish to be a COVID-19 vaccination site. With language barriers, confusion in the media, and general lack of knowledge or accessibility, we believe the parishes have a unique and trusted opportunity to offer this service to our communities.

Catholic Charities has established relationships with health officials willing to provide this service to parishes free of charge for persons age 12 and older. In order to minimize barriers for vulnerable populations to access vaccines, providers are not requiring registration (walk-ins allowed), and are minimizing identification requirements. In addition, vaccine providers will offer end-to-end management of the event logistics, making it as easy as possible.

Currently, our parish vaccination efforts have led to over 500 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine being administered in our parish communities. You can also read more about this partnership in the attached article featured in the North Texas Catholic.

Parishes wishing to host a vaccination event may contact , Director of Parish Social Ministry or 817-289-3889 for more information or to initiate planning.
