Hospital volunteers needed

Fort Worth Catholic diocese is looking for hospital volunteers.  This is a great opportunity for anyone who  would like to get involved with this rewarding ministry.   We currently have opening for JPS, Harris, The Plaza and Baylor hospitals. One to two hours per week would mean a lot to one of our brothers or sisters to receive a friendly visit.  A smile goes a long way to help healing.  If interested contact Deacon Bruce at 817-880-5479.

Montserrat Jesuit Retreat House Retreats

Montserrat Jesuit Retreat House,  600 N. Shady Shores Drive, Lake Dallas, continues to offer retreats for men and women. Relax and take time for yourself, be renewed and draw closer to God at a serene setting located on Lake Lewisville.

Saturday, November 5 from 9 a.m. to noon Fr. Anthony Borrow, S.J. will be giving the following day of reflection, entitled Transcending the Election.

This election year has been distinctive in its tone and rhetoric. The news cycle has berated us with stories about growing divisions in our country. Fr. Ron Mercier, Provincial of the US Central and Southern Province, recently reminded Jesuits of the need for prayerful discourse, to ease divisions and to enact Christ's peace. We do this through continued political engagement. As tempting as it might be to withdraw in exhaustion, regardless of the outcome of this year's elections, there are resources available to us to support us in sharing our hopes, dreams, values and vision in our communities. We will look at some of those resources,  share with one another ideas for transcending the election and prayerfully support each other in being ministers of reconciliation in a world that hungers for peace.
