e-Bulletin is Catholic Diocese of Fort Worth’s electronic newsletter to communicate news and information from the Diocese, its departments and its ministries to diocesan, parish and school employees as well as select volunteers. Diocesan department directors are responsible for generating information for e-Bulletin and ensuring that the content is within diocesan rules and policies.

Understanding Senate Bill 4

Bishop Michael Olson and the other Texas Catholic bishops are undertaking efforts to help Texas Catholics understand Senate Bill 4, commonly known as the anti-sanctuary city bill, which is scheduled to go into effect on September 1, 2017.

 An “Understand Senate Bill 4” flyer and a “Know Your Rights” card are attached, both in English and Spanish.
 

Per Bishop Olson’s directive, each parish is required to insert the “Understand Senate Bill 4” flyer in the parish bulletin as soon as possible. Parishes also should make every attempt possible to print and make the “Know Your Rights” card available to members of the parish.

Annual Diocesan Appeal Announced, September 9-10, 16-17

The weekends of September 9/10 and 16/17 have been selected as Announcement and Commitment Weekends respectively for the 2018 Annual Diocesan Appeal. During these weekends, Catholic faithful in every parish in the Diocese of Fort Worth are encouraged to be part of “Giving for the Common Good.”

Religious Education Classes for the Deaf  

Does your Deaf or hard of hearing child need Religious Education?  The Deaf Ministry Program offers religious education classes taught in Sign Language
by hearing adults familiar with Deaf Culture and also Deaf adults.  Classes start in September on Wednesday evenings at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church.

Diocesan Ministry Gay/Lesbian Catholics 

The Fort Worth Diocesan Ministry with Lesbian and Gay Catholics, other sexual minorities, their families and friends will not be holding their monthly meeting of prayer and conversation on the fourth Thursday of the month during June and July. Home mission dioceses are those dioceses in the United States and its territories and former territories that cannot provide basic pastoral services to Catholics without outside help. Basic pastoral services include Mass and the sacraments, religious education, and ministry training for priests, deacons, religious sisters and lay people. Diocesan Directory On-line

The 2017-2018 Diocesan Directory is available on the diocesan web site at www.fwdioc.org. 

An on-line directory will allow the information to be kept up-to-date and available on all electronic devices, from desktop computers to tablets and smartphones. The directory is in digital book form at http://directory.fwdioc.org. To search for the directory on the diocesan home page, go to the "Diocese" tab and in drop down box click on "diocesan offices." A hotline button will appear on that page to the digital directory.

St. Junipero Serra Institute

The St. John Paul Institute will transition into the St. Junipero Serra Institute on July 1, 2017 as the diocesan formation ministry to prepare the adult laity to be effective witnesses of the Gospel within their parish communities.

One of the main tenets of the St. Junipero Serra Institute will be to assist the laity in developing and forming a mature faith that is rooted in sacred Tradition and sacred Scripture and affirmed through the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

Paola Quintero-Araújo, director of Faith Formation, will serve as the new director of the Institute. She will vacate her Faith Formation position and move into her new role stating on July 1, 2017. Paola’s former positon will be reclassified as director of Elementary (Children’s) Catechesis.

Instituto St. Junípero Serra

El Instituto San Juan Pablo II  estará siendo asumido por el Instituto San Junípero Serra como el ministerio de formación Diocesana para preparar a los laicos adultos para ser testigos efectivos del Evangelio dentro de sus comunidades parroquiales a partir del 1 de Julio, 2017.

Uno de los principales postulados del Instituto San Junípero Serra será ayudar a los laicos en el desarrollo y formación de una fe madura que está enraizada en la Sagrada Escritura y la Sagrada Tradición y afirmada por el Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica.

Paola Quintero-Araújo, directora de Formación en la fe,  servirá como la nueva directora del Instituto. Ella abandonara su posición de Formación en la Fe y se incorporara a su muevo papel a partir del 1 de julio, 2017. La posición anterior de Paola será restructurada y reclasificada como Director de Catequesis infantil (primaria)

Quo Vadis? Vocation Discernment Retreat July 11-13

The Fort Worth Vocations Office is hosting the Discernment Retreat Quo Vadis from July 11 to July 13 sat Montserrat Jesuit Retreat House, 600 N Shady Shores Dr. Lake Dallas, TX 75065. Quo Vadis is a FREE vocation discernment retreat for High School Young Men to begin considering their vocation from God. The camp is a rare chance for High School young men to begin considering their vocation from God by speaking with priests and seminarians. It will be both physically and spiritually awesome. Parents are welcome to join for Mass and closing on July 13 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Space is limited to 20 with preference given to High School juniors and seniors. Adult Formation In-Service will be on August 3, it will center on evangelization training under the leadership of our guest speaker, Michael Dopp, STL. Then, on August 24, we will have our RCIA In-Service with James Bitting, M.A., the Theology Department Co-Chair at Bishop Carroll Catholic High School in Wichita, Kansas.
