Catholic Diocese of Fort Worth Expresses Sympathy

Fort Worth Diocese

October 14, 2019

On behalf of the priests, deacons, religious men and women and lay members of the Catholic Diocese of Fort Worth, I express our sympathy and offer our pledge of prayers to the family, friends, and the community, of Atatiana Jefferson who was killed in a tragic police shooting early Saturday.

We call on the City of Fort Worth to commit to a rapid and impartial investigation by an independent body that can determine what occurred and that, subsequently, leads to appropriate actions that will prevent such future tragedies and provide the restoration of trust required for the many dedicated men and women of our police to serve and to protect our community.
