May 21, 2020

Dear Friends in Christ,

I would like to thank you for the efforts that all of you have made in patience and generosity during these past several weeks of the first phase of our return to the public celebration of Mass and sacraments with the adaptation of several restrictions and protocols for the sake of the safety of all. The Eucharist makes us the Church through communion with Christ and with each other as one body, brothers and sisters, and saves us from being an aggregate of individuals with selfish interests. In our vocation as the Church, we are to care for each other, especially the vulnerable, in the integrity of soul and body as created by God.

It is with being mindful of these and other truths of the Gospel that I am very happy to announce to you that this weekend, May 23-24, 2020, we will begin the second phase of public celebration of masses in the Diocese of Fort Worth. ...

Catholic Bishop Abuse Reporting Service

USCCB Logo

A third-party reporting service became operational Monday, March 1, 2020 to receive reports of sexual abuse and related misconduct by bishops, and to relay those reports to proper Church authorities for investigation. If a reporting includes a crime, such as the sexual abuse of a minor, a report will be made to civil authorities. Otherwise, reports will be kept confidential.

The Catholic Bishop Abuse Reporting Service allows for individuals to relay to Church authorities any reports of a U.S. Catholic bishop who has:

  • Forced someone to perform or to submit to sexual acts through violence, threat, or abuse of authority.
  • Performed sexual acts with a minor or a vulnerable person.
  • Produced, exhibited, possessed, or distributed child pornography, or recruited or induced a minor or a vulnerable person to participate in pornographic exhibitions.
  • Or, a diocesan or eparchial bishop, or a cleric overseeing a diocese/eparchy in the absence of a diocesan or eparchial bishop, who has intentionally interfered with a civil or church investigation into allegations of sexual abuse committed by another cleric or religious.
