e-Bulletin is Catholic Diocese of Fort Worth’s electronic newsletter to communicate news and information from the Diocese, its departments and its ministries to diocesan, parish and school employees as well as select volunteers. VAP Weekend, June 24-26, 2016

Is God calling you? The Vocation Awareness Program is a weekend opportunity for you to listen and find out more information about Priesthood and the religious life. The Vocation Awareness Program helps single Catholic men and women, ages 18-40, find answers to questions they may have about life as a Priest, Sister, or Brother. The weekend includes presentations, panel discussions, question and answer sessions, one-on-one personal conferences with diocesan and order Priests, Sisters, and Brothers who volunteer to serve as staff. Pro-Life Boot Camp

The Pro-Life Boot Camp is a total pro-life immersion experience for high school and home-schooled Students ages 14 to 17. Participants are welcome to come for the entire weekend. The camp will held at Notre Dame High School, 2821 Lansing Blvd., Wichita Falls, TX 76309.

Round-trip transportation will be provided from St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2016 Willis Lane, Keller, for Individuals living in the Fort Worth Metroplex area  . Please see schedule to know when to arrive. The cost is $150 for youth, $105 for junior staff (18-20 year-old), $95 for chaperone. Registration deadline is May 20. Diocesan Ministry with Gay/Lesbian Catholics

The Fort Worth Diocesan Ministry with Lesbian and Gay Catholics, other sexual minorities, their families and friends will hold their monthly meeting of prayer and conversation on Thursday, May 26, at 7 p.m. at The Catholic Center, 800 West Loop 820 S, Fort Worth. Fr. St. John Paul II Institute to host Sacred Music Workshop for Liturgical Ministers

Fr. Thu Nguyen will present a two-part workshop on May 28 and June 4 regarding Sacred Music.  Participants will receive a certificate from the St. John Paul II Institute.  The workshop will be held in St. George Church (Belknap and Maurice Sts., Fort Worth) from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., on both Saturdays.

The workshop will give a liturgical explanation for the use of chants in the Mass and show how the chants are to be sung and taught to congregations.  It will also review the parts of the Roman Missal that treat music and explain how chants might be integrated with other kinds of Sacred Music.

Fr. Thu is current pastor of St. George Parish and will become pastor of St. Jude Parish in Mansfield this September. This summer he will also finish course work for a master’s degree in Liturgical Studies from the Liturgical Institute of Mundelein Seminary outside Chicago.  Those who have taken his workshops have commented favorably on both his knowledge and passion about liturgy.

There is no cost for the workshop but participants are asked to preregister by contacting Irma Jimenez (, 817-945-9354).  There will be a small fee for those who come to the workshop without pre-registering.  Please pre-register now. The workshop will be cancelled unless there are ten participants.

LA PROFESORA PÍA SEPTIÉN DARÁ LAS CHARLAS DEL PROGRAMA JP2 DEL VERANO

La profesora Pía Septién presentará cuatro discursos sobre el mal en la Biblia desde el 13 al 16 de junio en la parroquia de Todos los Santos. Todos son invitados. Los discursos son partes del programa del verano del Instituto San Juan Pablo II (JP2).

Cada verano JP2 presenta un programa de charlas teológicas y talleres de ministerio durante el mes de junio.  Su propósito es levantar el conocimiento y el espíritu de todos los fieles, particularmente los ministros laicos, en la diócesis. Este año se llama el programa “Una Pasión para Servir”.

La Sra. Septién ha enseñado por muchos años en la Universidad de Dallas. Su mayor interés es el estudio de la Biblia. Ha preparado las charlas 1) la creación y el mal (personal, familiar, comunal, social); 2) la enseñanza de Jesús sobre estar dependientes del mal; 3) las actitudes apropiadas de los seguidores de Jesús; y 4) las ayudas espirituales a la disposición de los fieles.

La Iglesia de Todos Los Santos está en 214 NW 20th St., Fort Worth.  Las charlas comenzarán a las 7 y terminarán por las 9 cada noche.  Son para todos. La entrada es gratis.

St. John Paul II Institute to offer workshop to Pastoral Ministers on Spiritual Care to the Dying

The St. John Paul II Institute will host a workshop on Spiritual Care to the Dying presented by Ms.Theresa Luby during its Summer Enrichment Program.

This workshop will instruct participants in the theory and practice of preparing the terminally ill and their loved ones for life’s end. It will be given on Saturday, June 11, 9-11:30 a.m., at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish’s Education Building, 201 Thornhill Dr. Fort Worth.  All are welcome to attend.

Ms. Luby is a chaplain for Community Hospice of Texas.  She has been working with the hospice movement for thirty years. Holding a licentiate degree in biblical theology, she has taught Scripture classes for many years.

St. John Paul II Institute to offer workshop to Social Service Ministers on the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy

The St. John Paul II Institute will host a workshop on the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy presented by Mr. Paul Crnkovich during its Summer Enrichment Program.

The workshop will instruct participants in the theory and practice of the Works of Mercy.  It will be given on Saturday, June 18, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., at Catholic Charities 249 W. Thornhill Dr., Fort Worth.  All are welcome to attend.

Mr. Crnkovich works for Catholic Charities as Director of Parish Relations.  He has a bachelor’s degree in theology from  the University of Dallas and is known for his faith-filled, enthusiastic promotion of social outreach.

St. John Paul II Institute to offer workshop to Catechists on Effective Catechesis

The St. John Paul II Institute will host a workshop on Catechetical Strategies: How to Make Religious Education More Effective, offered by Ms. Anne Poplin during its Summer Enrichment Program.

This workshop will instruct participants on effective teaching methods at both the children and adult levels.  It will be given on Saturday, June 18, 12 noon – 3 p.m., at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish’s Education Building, 201 W. Thornhill Dr., Fort Worth. All are welcome to attend.

Ms. Poplin is a veteran educator from Wichita Falls who has recently retired from the Texas state education system.  She works with the RCIA program at Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish and teaches with the St. John Paul II Institute. She is excellent and thorough – not to be missed.

Quo Vadis? Vocations Discernment Retreat, July 6-8, 2016

Quo Vadis? is a Vocation Discernment Retreat for High School Young Men to begin considering their vocation from God by hanging out with priests and seminarians! It will be a spiritually awesome weekend. Venue will be at Lone Oak Retreat Center in Gainesville beginning on July 6, 2016 10:00AM. Nun Run for High School Girls, August 12-14, 2016

This event is FREE and open to all high school girls (9th-12th grade for the 2016-2017 school year) who want to learn about the religious life, discerning their vocation to religious life, or simply want to be open to God’s will in their life. The girls will have the chance to interact with the following groups: Carmelite Nuns, Dominican Sisters, Sisters of Mary of Namur, Kingdom of God Sisters, & the Hermanas Catequistas Guadalupans.
